A Recent History of the UK Housing Market
There is a plethora of information available about the recent activity of the UK housing market, but much of it is overbearing and convoluted. That’s why eMortgage Calculator has collected data from a number of documents across a number of years to present the most significant and interesting changes that the property market has seen in the UK since circa 1990.
Some of the facts are self-evident, but the actual figures are quite shocking. We all know that house prices in London are generally at the higher end of the scale, but, as an example, houses there are a whole 218 per cent more expensive than they are in the north west of the country. The most expensive region is London, but that hasn’t always been the case. Just two decades ago, it was more costly to buy a house in the outer metropolitan area than it was in the capital city.
